Just Make it Through the Day

Kelly almost made it through chemo today. We tried some new anti-nausea medications in her IV before each chemo drug and it seemed to help. She definitely did better than her last treatment. As she got up to walk, she sure could not have passed a field sobriety test! She was actually pretty funny for awhile since she felt giggly and loopy, but that is much better than feeling so sick. As we were leaving (7 hours after we had arrived), we got about halfway to the car, when she suddenly got very sick. So back in we went and when she felt better one of the nurses took her to the car in a wheelchair. She is doing better now that we are home. She is just very tired.

We would appreciate prayers for her MRI tomorrow. We are praying it is clear, like it was in December. She is also worried about the contrast making her sick. It is at 1:30, then she has an appointment with her neurosurgeon, Dr. Muhonen, at 3:00. I will post again tomorrow night when we have the results.

Hi Kelly,
We'll all be praying for you tomorrow (actually we've already been - but extra tomorrow!) that your MRI is clean and just shows lots of beautiful pictures of that great brain of yours! Some of those extra prayers wil be that the contrast doesn't make you sick and that the whole procedure goes smoothly and easily for you, and that Dr. Muhonen has all good things to report.

I wish I could be there to keep your mom company while you're busy! I miss getting to rip out my knitting project 4 or 5 times! I actually took a class to try to get past the beginner stage, but I think I need a whole lot more!

One of my very favorite bible verses seems like a good one to keep in our minds right now, I hope you like it too: "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
Romans 15:13

With lots & lots of hope & love!...
Aunt Tracy

Dear Kelly,

Mark Twain drew a distinction between two types of prayer: prayers for public consumption, which we would probably call "politically correct" today, and something he called "secret supplications of the heart." These are the true prayers, what's on the soul's mind, if you like. My secret supplication of the heart for you is an MRI that's a clean as can be.

My nephew is a cancer survivor. He knows he's alllergic to clams, so his doctor thought it could be the iodine in the clams. There's a lot of iodine in the contrast medium, too, so they pump my nephew full of Benedryl the day before the scan and he sleeps through the whole thing (and most of the next day, too). He's gotten to the point where he has just one MRI a year. Wouldn't that be great? I'll add that to my list of supplications, too, shall I?

Take care,
Henry

Hi Kelly - your Mom sent me the link for your website this AM, which I really appreciate. I think about you and your family every day and in particular have been praying that your MRI came back clean and that the contrast did not make you sick.

Hi Kelly!
You are in our thoughts and prayers daily and especially today. We're waiting for the "all clear" report. Sorry the chemo has been so rough on you and making you tired. Just follow what your body tells it to do and get lots of rest.
I look at the mountains from M.V. and see all of the snow. We haven't been up there since we were with you. We're planning on going there for the weekend before Presidents Day so we'll get an extra day. Can't wait to see how much snow is there. I have a feeling we'll be shoveling a lot of snow and sliding a bunch. We'll try to take some pictures.
You take care, sweetie. Love to you and the family.

Hugs,
Laurie, Mark and the 4th grade at SJDL School
