Prayers needed

Kelly had her MRI today. We did not get the news we wanted to hear. Unfortunately, three spots were found on her scan which don't look good. Most likely it is the glioblastoma recurring already. We knew there was a strong chance that it would recur, but we are very disappointed (to say the least) to see it happening so soon. Especially since she has been going through radiation and chemo. Her doctor feels the oral chemo she has been taking isn't strong enough since it is not killing the cancer cells that are still growing. So her neurosurgeon that we saw today will talk to oncology, and they will decide on a different kind of chemo for her next round that will be much stronger. We meet with her oncologist on Friday.

She is scheduled to be admitted to CHOC Monday morning for another surgery to remove these tumors. There is a very small chance the spots could be radiation necrosis, but Dr. Muhonen, her neurosurgeon, thinks there is a much stronger chance that it is the glioblastoma. The only way to know for sure is to remove it and send it to pathology, so that is what he will do on Monday.

We appreciate all your good thoughts and prayers for Kelly as she goes into this next stage of her fight. We need the prayers now more than ever. Kelly is taking the news very well, partly because of all the great support we have received so far. She also totally trusts Dr. Muhonen and feels so comfortable with him doing her surgery. Thanks to all of you that have have helped us so much already with the great meals, rides for Megan and Shannon, and all the support for Kelly.

Hi Kelly,
You and the whole family are most definately in our prayers!! It's really annoying that we live so far away and the kids have this silly thing called school - we just all want to be there with you and for you! Consider yourself hugged from all of us!
Love & hugs,
Aunt Tracy, Uncle Tom, Emily & Jake

Kelly,
Your Dad gave us the news last night and it goes without saying that we all wanted to come to California and be with you. If you need us or want us to come we'll be on the next plane. For right now we send all our love and prayers and will leave what's coming next in the skilled hands of your doctors.

All of our love to you, your Mom and Dad, and Megan and Shannon,
Aunt Denise and Nana and Poppie

I just found out today, what was going on, from Misty. We sat in front of the school and just consoled each other, more determined than ever to help whenever and however we can.

My thought, my prayers and my love go out to you all during this rough time!

Meghen wants you to know that she's thinking about you and wishes that you get well soon!

Hey Kelly,
You are so strong! I'm so glad you were able to get to Hawaii before this news. I'm sure the memories of the sun, sand, palm trees, and penguins will help you get through the next few days. I will pray you will be able to mentally transport yourself away from the hospitals and into Hawaii whenever you need it! :) Keep smiling and know your arts-X-press friends are thinking about you and your family a lot! We will miss you, but you can see pictures from the Family Concert tomorrow on our blog soon! Lots of love to you and your family.
Warmly, Your arts-X-press Friends

Dear Kelly,
I am living in Hawaii right now and, from your blog, can tell that it was a special place for you. Every time I see the beautiful ocean, a rainbow, smell the crazily beautiful flowers, or watch the palm trees swaying calmly back and forth I will imagine a Hawaiian Rainbow arching over the Pacific Ocean sending all the calm and peacefulness straight to you!
Lots of love to you and your family, you are amazingly strong.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for keeping us updated. Thank goodness for popcicles! I thought it was cute that you said Kelly was eating a popclicle. We have used them for years when the kids didn't feel good.

I loved the photos of the girls Birthday and the Hawaii photos of Kelly. She has grow up so much lately...

We are all thinking about you and keeping you all in our prayers.
