Next Steps

Kelly had her weekly clinic appointment today at CHOC. Her monthly IV pentamidine treatment made her pretty lousy. Luckily this is the only medication that she has had a bad reaction to so far. Her counts are holding steady - a little below normal, but good enough to get on an airplane without having to wear a mask, which she is very happy about. We are leaving for HAWAII this Sunday! Kelly never got to go see Kevin in August as we originally planned, so I am taking her for a week during her treatment break. We are very excited to see him, as we haven't all been together since he was home for her surgery in July. Megan and Shannon will be staying with friends here so we don't have to take them out of school. Thanks Elliotts and Schultes! The girls are looking forward to staying with you. (Although Kelly and I will miss them.)

Kelly's next MRI is scheduled for two weeks from today, October 17th. This is her first post radiation MRI and we are praying it looks as clear as it did right after her surgery. We have an appointment with Dr. Muhonen, her pediatric neurosurgeon, directly after her MRI so he can go over the results with us right away. I am so glad we won't have to wait to find out results, which can be nerve wracking. Her next round of chemo will start after her scans are reviewed.

Hi Kelly!
I thought I left a comment this morning, but it's not here - hmmm...Anyway - I just said that it was great that you did so well on your tests! We already knew how smart you are, but it sure is nice to have it confirmed, huh?!

I'm still waiting to see some cute little crafty dolls on your blog!

I hope you have a wonderful time in Hawaii with your Mom & Dad! Soak up lots of sun and energy to help you just fly through your next round of chemo.

Sending lots of love & hugs,
Aunt Tracy, Uncle Tom, Emily & Jake

Kelly :) Hey there- I finally found your blog! (I'm a little on the Amish side when it comes to computer-ie things). Anyway- glad to see you're doing so well-and wishing you tons of fun in Hawaii (somebody told me they have a "chicken problem" on one of the smaller islands so keep your eyes peeled!!! Chickens can be extremely crafty). Say hi to your folks too!

Hey Kelly,

I've got the perfect activity for you when you get here for a unique Hawaiian experience: Shark wrestling! After that we can go volcano jumping. I'll see you at baggage claim tomorrow with a floral lei and bowl of poi.
Love,

Dear Little Wahini,
You are probably hulaing up a storm in Hawaii and not even thinking about chemo and hospitals. Your Dad said you arrived safely and are already having a wonderful visit and shaved ice. Recharge your phyical and mental batteries and enjoy yourself. We just came back from South Carolina.
Love as always
