Chemoradiotherapy begins

I have had three radiation treatments so far, and they have all gone very smoothly. They have taken me right at my appointment time and the doctor, nurses and therapists all treat me very nicely. My doctor (radiation oncologist) even gave me a box of chocolates on Saturday. I started my chemotherapy Friday also, and so far I feel pretty good. I was worried about swallowing the pills, but they are not as bad as I thought they would be. Since I am doing chemotherapy and radiation at the same time, it is called chemoradiotherapy. The worst thing this week is my radiation therapy is at 7:45 am so we have to get up early to drive to Orange, which is too early to get up in the summer. Next week they are moving my appointment to 10:30, so that will be easier. Thanks again for all your messages! I love to read them.

I am glad everything is going well. That does suck that you have to get up that early. Hope you are feeling good!

Hi Kelly!

So glad to hear that your treatments are going well. Mr. Turtle is peeing with excitement :o) How often do you have the treatments? Hope you've been having fun with your cousins. Take care!

Love and hugs,

We're glad they're changing your appointment time. I thought 7:30 in the morning was just a myth. ( Perhaps the doctors were finding it hard getting up early, too....)

Hey Sweetie! I can see all of your pictures from my personal computer but not the one at work. You look cute as a redhead. Why didn't Mom & I arrange that 15 years ago?

Hello Kelly,

Your Poppie has decided that he doesn't blog so he says that he's going to write you a letter. It doesn't seem fair that you have to get up early just to get radiation. I don't like to get up early even to go on vacation. My hair used to be red at the end of the summer from all the sun and pool choline and I had a hairdresser once you thought I'd look good as a redhead. Do redheads have more fun or is that blondes? Do redheads have fiery tempers and can they wear pink??? So many things for you to explore. Will people start calling you "Red"?
Love you fierce,
Aunt Denise
P.S. who is this "Mr. Turtle"?

Dear Kelly, Routine - I love routine! And promptness, what a bonus. The good news about getting things over with early is that you still have the whole day ahead of you. I do aggree that 10:30 will be much better!
Things on the mountain are going well - I'll be home September first, so tell your mom to get ready for a visit from me.
All the best,
Poli

Hello Kelly,

We are so happy that everything is going smoothly. Amber, Michael and I talk about and think about you every day. You're being so strong and positive, and we really admire you for that. Soon, everything will be back to normal and we can't wait to see you back at the studio.

By the way, we did send another comment last Monday night, but I did not see it posted.

Your new hairdo looks fabulous.

Love you,

Kristi and Amber

Dear Kelly,

I got your web page from your Aunt Jennifer. I did a lot of volunteer work with her at Kylie and Ryan's school and I know your Uncle Bob from Disney. I am glad you are doing well. I also have a 3 year old nephew who started chemotherapy in April. He has leukemia and will go through chemo for 3 and a half years. He is a tough little guy and he is doing well. We played outside this week until I couldn't stand the heat any more but he could have kept on going. If he takes his Zofran before his chemo and he rarely gets sick. I wanted to tell you to stay strong and keep a positive outlook. I will keep checking on you and have added you to my list of children I am praying for.

Debbie
