False Alarm

We are home from CHOC after our early morning labs recheck. Fortunately, Kelly's counts were much better today, so they let us go home. She didn't need a blood transfusion today. They think there may have been a faulty reading yesterday, or there may have been a problem with the blood draw. At least we know her counts are within a safe range for now. So now we are off to pick up Shannon early from school so she can get her braces put on.

Thank you so much to everyone who offered to donate blood for Kelly. Chances are, she will eventually need it. Next Monday they are adding another drug to her chemotherapy and it is can make her platelets go down quite a bit, which is another reason they would need to give her blood. If anyone is interested in donating blood, here is information for donating at CHOC:

Hi Sweet Girl,
I have been keeping up with you, Megan and Shannon through Clare Reding. I think about you constantly!
I hope you are feeling well. I need to have Clare tell me the next time she sees you so that I can tag along.
I can't believe you and your sisters are so big and grown up! You are all so pretty (as you always were!) How exciting that your dad has come home for Thanksgiving. I can't believe it is already holiday time. Clare already has Christmas shopping done, and I haven't even started! Did she tell you that I am teaching 6th grade? Oh, those sixth graders can be a handful!
I would love to donate blood for you, but I am A+.:( I asked everyone in my family, too, but no one matches. I am on a hunt though! I am going to ask ALL of my friends.
Take care, Sweetie. Say, "Hi" to your sisters for me.
I would love to visit with you all!
love,
Elise Greyson

Hi Kelly!
I just got home and I miss you guys so much already!! We all can't wait to be there for Christmas! It meant a lot to me to get to spend time with you, your sisters and your mom - wish I could have been more helpful - but I loved just getting to be with you!

So glad this morning just turned out to be breakfast at the hospital cafeteria instead of needing any kind of transfusion or treatment. I'm thinking we could make an extended family outing of donating blood at CHOC when we're all there next month!

Hope you are feeling good and enjoying having your dad around! I hope Shannon's mouth isn't too sore!(?) Hope Megan's legs aren't too sore from dance class. And I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving together!!

Love & lots of hugs!
Aunt Tracy

Dear Kelly,
I'm so glad to hear that your blood is fine. Maybe it is the Magic of Thanksgiving (does Thanksgiving have magic or is that just Christmas) or the Magic of your Dad (no that can't be). The hospital instruments were just wrong. Have a great Thanksgiving. You and your sisters are on the top of my thankful list.
Love Aunt Denise

Hi Kelly,

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you're well enough to enjoy the whole feast, from turkey to pumpkin pie.

Nice job on your blood. You're doing very well. Keep it up.
