Last Day of Radiation!

Today was Kelly's last day of radiation! This is the mask she wore everyday to hold her head in place for radiation. Before she started radiation, this mask was molded to her face and marks were placed on the mask to help aim the radiation beams. The mask would then be attached to the table she was on. They let her bring it home now that she is done. Needless to say, she is happy not to have go up to Orange everyday for these treatments. She has a 4 week break now before she begins her next chemotherapy round. Hopefully, she'll get some of her energy back during this time. She will be still go to her oncologist once a week and have her labs done just to make sure she is doing OK.

She celebrated tonight by going to her high school football game and a dance afterwards. She had fun seeing her friends that she doesn't get to see at school. Most of all, she got to feel like a normal teenager!

Hi Kelly!

What great news that you are done with your radiation. I bet you're so glad (and your mom, too). It's great that you got to go to the football game and dance. Thanks so much for keeping us updated on your blog. We read it regularly to see how you're doing.

Onguard!!! The mask looks like you're ready to fight in a fencing tournament. Well, it's pretty appropriate because you did have a fight and you came out victorious! Congratulations, sweetie. One major hurdle is over with. We'll have to get together to celebrate. You take care and love to your family.

Love and hugs,
Laurie and Mark

Love you lots!!

Dear Kelly,

I'm so glad that you have finished with radiation. I hope you get to spend some time with your friends. I know that as an almost 15 year old spending so much time with adults is not too much fun. After radiation and surgery the normal teen problem of a pimple on your nose would seem like small time problems. I'm wishing you not even small time problems. Your Poppie was mailing your birthday card today. So I hope focusing on your birthday will be some more fun.

All love

Hey Kelly,
It was great to see you and your family last night. You look terrific! Your mom sent me a note today and said it would be o.k. for you to go out for awhile. So, how 'bout a Starbucks run?!
Let me know what you have planned this week.
Love,
Mrs. Dobbins

Morning Kelly,

I was thinking of you yesterday. They had a review of a local restuarant that had a good glutten free selection (even glutten free pasta). I could take you there next time you visit. They also have food for non-glutten free people too. I've eaten there myself without knowing about the glutten free. Let us know what you are doing with your time now that you don't have to go to the hospital everyday. Does your testing and tutor take up your time? Any birthday plans yet?

Love Aunt Denise

P.S. Love to all at home too.

Hi Kelly,
You don't know me, but I'm a grandma to Jessica & Megin. Their Mom told me about you and I want you to know that I have put you on all of my prayer lists. I heard that you are a happy person and that will help to see you through.
God is faithful and loves you very much. Me too, Grandma Anne
