Home Sweet Home

Thanks Stevie, for bring Shannon and Megan to the hospital to visit Kelly.  She was happy to all of you!

Kelly enjoyed all of her visitors Saturday, which was the first day she felt good enough to want to see people.  Thanks Linda and Turners for bringing us food "from the outside."  That is so appreciated!  It was great to see you Sarah and Eileen.

Kelly was happy to have lots of reading time in the hospital when she started feeling better.
This is her bear her friend Katie gave her after one of her surgeries last summer.  "Rudy" the bear has to come with Kelly whenever she is admitted.  He makes a good pillow and she likes to snuggle with him.  He is the same bear in the photo in the right margin.

Hello everyone,
I am back at home from the hospital.  I will not say I am normal, for apparently that is not a word that exists at CHOC.  Everytime I said that something ( i wont say what ) was normal, they would ask , " what is normal?" it got SO irritating!!! so, i guess i could say that i feel FINE. good, fine, dandy..... NORMAL. so, ya, thats about it. well lets see, what else? umm... i guess i will leave the rest up to my mom. i slept, saw lots of tv, ate a little... and thats it. bye.

It is very nice to be back in our own home with all three girls under one roof again.  Thanks so much to the Schultes and Elliotts for helping out with Megan and Shannon (their foster families!) I don't know how we'd do this without you!  The girls really enjoyed staying with families they are so comfortable with.

Kelly is doing better, as she says above.  Her blood counts are lower than normal, so she'll have them checked again this week. We need to be careful of germs also until they start coming back up.  I think she is feeling better just being home with her sisters (and of course Murphy!)

Hi Kelly,

Welcome home. A little rest, a few good meals, and all your counts will soon be back to normal (there's that word again).

Having never been quite normal myself, I think being normal is over-rated. It's a synonym for being dull and boring, isn't it?

You keep on being your unusual, interesting self. It isn't always easy, I know, but you've handled it brilliantly so far.

I'm glad you're back at home and feeling better Kelly. I'm sure you're happy to sleep in your own bed again, with no beeps, bells or pages to wake you up. I hope you continue to feel more and more "normal" now that you're home:) Take care and God bless!

Hugs from "Fairy" Candy XO

(PS: The AU website was finally updated so now everyone can see your beautiful face:))

Glad to hear you're all comfy, cozy and "dandy" at home! Those foster families sound like a Godsend, but I bet it feels good to have all you girls under one roof! And dad/Kevin home by dinner tonight will be icing on the cake (but that would be dessert?..)

Love & Hugs!

Hi Kelly and Laudes,

I am super happy to hear that you are home now!! I hope you continue to feel better, and know that being home (own bed, room, family around you, etc. etc.)helps ALOT, huh?

Your white bear looks VERY huggable!!! I love bears and have many!! Just don't ask my family how many that might be!!!

I talked to Pam and Ashley yesterday at church, and Pam said that Murphy is so cute!!

All for now...

Hi Kelly,
We're so glad to hear you're back at home and feeling a little better! I'm bummed that we were at CHOC the same day as you and didn't even know it!!! We miss you and would have loved to see you! Did your mom tell you Dr. Muhonen FORGOT about us, and left before seeing us??? So we waited and waited, and then the office staff realized we were still there, and told us he was gone. So we went all the way home and went back later that afternoon. Pretty funny, huh! I now have proof that Dr. Muhonen is just a normal guy who makes mistakes, too. :)
We have a Dr. Muhonen apt. on Nov. 19th, wanna come? Caitlin is going to have an MRI and Dr. Muhonen will read it and reset her shunt that afternoon. Fun, fun, fun!!! We would love it if you wanted to join us!
Please let us know when you're ready for visitors there or want to come visit us. You still have to meet the kittens, and we want to meet Murphy! Hope to see you soon!!!
Love,
Clare and family

Hi Kelly! BBBRRR - it is very cold here. I am told that yesterday it snowed/flurried in parts of New Jersey so your Dad just missed it! My sister drove home from work last nite in blizzard-like conditions! I hope you are feeling better and the weather there is a bit more normal. If your Dad had waited a day the wind alone from here could have flung him across the country!

Love,
pat

Hi--

We sent each other a couple of notes on the pac2 site. But, have you met John Mash? He is another glioma survivor-he has been doing chemo for about 4 yrs. He is probably about 17 now. The family is well informed and been dealing w/ cancer for a long time. John had ALL (I think) when he was younger. I am sure if you wanted to contact them neuro or onc could set it up. They are an inspiring family.
